Applying for a Caste Certificate in Bihar: RTPS Portal vs Vasudha Kendra

In Bihar, you can apply for a Jati Praman Patra (जाति प्रमाण पत्र) completely free of cost through the official RTPS Bihar portal (serviceonline.bihar.gov.in). While you can also apply in person at your local Block RTPS counter or Vasudha Kendra (CSC) for a ₹30 service charge, applying online from home is 100% free, faster, and gives you direct SMS tracking updates.

Follow this exact step-by-step walkthrough to fill out Form 1 (राजस्व अधिकारी स्तर पर जाति प्रमाण-पत्र हेतु आवेदन पत्र) without technical errors.

Important: Always Start with “राजस्व अधिकारी स्तर” (Revenue Officer Level)

Do not select SDO (अनुमंडल) or DM (जिला) level on your first application. The Bihar RTPS system will ask for your existing Revenue Officer (RO) certificate number. First get the RO certificate issued, which is accepted for 99% of state recruitments (BPSC, Bihar Police, Teacher Bharti).
