Documents Required for Bihar Caste Certificate (Complete Official Checklist)

Before starting your online application on serviceonline.bihar.gov.in, keeping scanned copies of your papers in the correct format and file size will prevent upload errors and ensure your application is approved without an objection from the Revenue Karamchari.

Core Documents to Keep Ready:

1Self-Attested Photograph (स्वप्रमाणित फोटो)

Recent color passport photograph. Crucial rule: You must sign across the lower half of your photograph (half signature on the photo, half on paper) before scanning. Maximum size: under 100 KB (in JPG/JPEG format). You can resize it with our free image compressor.

2Identity Proof (पहचान पत्र)

Any valid government ID: Aadhaar Card (recommended), Voter ID (EPIC), PAN Card, Driving Licence, or Passport. PDF scan under 100 KB.

3Ancestral Land / Khatiyan Records (खतियान / दाखिल-खारिज रसीद)

Copy of ancestral Khatiyan (खतियान) or current Land Revenue Receipt (लगान रसीद / दाखिल-खारिज रसीद) in the name of father or grandfather reflecting your family's traditional lineage and caste in Bihar.

4Father's Caste Certificate (Mandatory Paternal Proof)

Existing caste certificate of your father, paternal grandfather, or real sibling issued by a competent revenue authority in Bihar.

खतियान से जाति प्रमाण पत्र (Khatiyan Se Jati Praman Patra Bihar) — What If Father Has No Certificate?

If your father does not possess an existing digital caste certificate, Bihar General Administration Department rules permit establishing community lineage through ancestral land records:

  • Khatiyan Copy (खतियान नकल): Land survey records (CS / RS survey) reflecting grandfather's name and traditional caste classification.
  • Certified Family Tree (वंशावली - Vanshvali): If using ancestral Khatiyan in your grandfather's or great-grandfather's name, attach a Vanshvali signed by the Gram Panchayat Sarpanch/Mukhiya or sworn on a Notary Affidavit to bridge your direct paternal bloodline.
  • Online Jamabandi & Lagan Rasid (जमाबंदी / लगान रसीद): Current year land revenue receipt downloaded from biharbhumi.bihar.gov.in showing continuous possession in the village.
  • School Leaving Certificate (SLC) / Matriculation Record: Father's or grandfather's school record explicitly stating caste.
  • Mukhiya / Ward Councillor Recommendation: A formal verification letter from your Gram Panchayat Mukhiya (मुखिया) or Ward Parshad certifying permanent local domicile.

विवाहित महिलाओं के लिए नियम (Mandatory Rule for Married Women in Bihar)

Under Bihar GAD Circular No. 673 and Circular No. 14524, a married woman's caste and Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) certificate must strictly be issued from her father's name and paternal home address (पिता के नाम एवं मायके के पते से). Husband's name and address cannot be used, as caste is acquired strictly by birth from the father. Submitting husband's address causes immediate disqualification in BPSC Teacher (TRE) and Bihar Police document verification.
